Visiting care is when one of our carers regularly calls in to your home. You might want a carer to come in first thing everyday to help you get ready, you might want someone to pop in every meal time or maybe even just to see someone a couple of times a week. We’re entirely flexible and work with your requirements.
Our visiting carers can support you with tasks around the home including cooking, cleaning and even laundry. We also provide personal care which can range from catheter maintenance to simply brushing someone’s hair. At Ensure Care we tailor all our services entirely to our client’s needs and always make sure they’re paired with carers who have the right skills to provide the best care for them. If you need specialist care, your carer will be fully trained in that particular field.

Who Can Benefit from Visiting Care?
There’s no strict criteria to qualify for visiting care – we’ll help anyone who needs it. Some people who need care at home have a long term condition such as multiple sclerosis or dementia. Others might need some extra support following operations or shorter term illnesses. (Visiting care can work on a long term or short term basis, we’ll adjust everything to our client’s situation.) Many elderly people find they can’t function as they used to around the home and feel like they need a little extra support to continue living independently.
How Does Visiting Care Work?
Once it’s been decided that someone needs extra care at home, our initial assessment will begin. Together with the client, a family member and their social workers we’ll assess and then decide what’s needed. This includes how many visits a day, how long the visits are and the tasks that need to be completed during each visit. We’ll also meet with the client so we can get to know them and plan for any particular personality traits, likes and dislikes, or phobias. All these things are constantly assessed to ensure the care we provide is always 100% right for our client. Once the most appropriate carers have been chosen, we’ll make sure they have any specialist training they might need before they begin caring. Consistency is key with care so we make sure our clients see the same familiar faces regularly.
How Can Carers Help Around the Home?
Many people presume that carers only help with personal or medical care, but this isn’t the case. Carers can also assist with jobs around the home that their client might struggle to do alone. This includes general cleaning and tidying, particularly tidying that helps to declutter the home and keep it free from any potential trip hazards. A carer can also prepare meals and then do any cleaning or washing up that follows. Many people need help with their laundry, particularly changing bedsheets, and we can help with that too. Help around the home means there’s one less thing for our client to worry about and that they can focus their energies elsewhere.
Benefits of Visiting Care for Families
The benefits of having a carer for clients is often immeasurable. It helps them live independently and really gives people a sense of freedom, but it’s a huge help to the client’s family too. Sometimes the lead up to arranging a care plan is filled with stress and worry for someone’s next of kin, but knowing they’ll have a trained and skilled carer to help with their needs at home is a huge comfort. In some cases, when spouses or family have been providing the care themselves, it can be a huge relief to hand over that care to a professional and refocus your energy on your relationship and enjoying your time together. With elderly people in particular, or people with reduced mobility, having a carer gives relatives reassurance in terms of falls. Knowing that someone will be popping in to see your relative daily, if not multiple times a day, and that your relative will be found and helped if they’ve fallen or hurt themselves is a real comfort to loved ones.
